The founder of Bishop, Del Vecchio & Beeks Law Office, P.C., William D. (Bill) Bishop, has been practicing law for over 30 years. Bill is a Certified Family Law Specialist by the State Bar of Arizona Board of Legal Specialization. He is one of only 65 attorneys throughout the state have attained this distinction by demonstrating substantial experience, effectiveness and knowledge significantly higher than that possessed by a general practitioner who regularly handles family law matters. Bill is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Lawyers (AAML), and was listed to Best Lawyers in America for Family Law in 2018-2022. Bill has also been listed as a Southwest Super Lawyer for the last 10 years. Bill has been listed as one of the top 50 attorneys statewide in all areas of practice (i.e., amongst almost 17,000 licensed attorneys in Arizona).

A firm believer in improving the legal system and serving the community, Arizona family law attorney Bill Bishop was the 2017-2018 Chairperson of the State Bar of Arizona Family Law Section. He has also served as the chairperson of the Maricopa County Bar Association Family Law Section. Mr. Bishop has been a member of the State Bar of Arizona Family Law Section Executive Council for many years. Through his involvement with the State Bar Family Law Executive Council, Mr. Bishop is involved with providing continuing education to other family law attorneys, working on statewide family law legislation and summarizing family law cases which have statewide importance. Mr. Bishop volunteers at the Women’s Fresh Start Resource Center and regularly chairs and speaks at a number of family law seminars for fellow attorneys and judges.
Education & Experience
Bill grew up in Oregon and attended Willamette University in Salem as a double major – graduating with honors in both Political Science and Psychology. While in college, Bill received numerous scholarships and was a member of numerous honor societies, including Mortar Board and Omicron Delta Kappa. He also received All-American and Academic All-American Wrestling honors during college. Mr. Bishop brings this same dedication and competitive nature to his law firm.
Mr. Bishop graduated from Arizona State University College of Law in 1989. During law school, Bill graduated in the top portion of his class, and was selected as a member of the National Moot Court Team. Mr. Bishop received the honor of the Order of Barristers for outstanding oral advocacy. After law school, Mr. Bishop worked for large downtown law firms, practicing both commercial litigation and family law. Soon thereafter, he began to focus primarily in the area of family law and divorce. His diverse background and commercial litigation experience have given him an advantage over many other family law attorneys, especially with regard to complex property and financial matters.

Thanks to his background in psychology (Bachelor degree) and his devotion to assisting people with their child custody and parenting time issues, he is known to deal with custody issues head on. When necessary, Mr. Bishop involves mental health experts in the custody process, including when the other parent suffers from certain psychological issues or is attempting to alienate the children against his client.
As a result of his reputation as a professional, thorough and assertive trial attorney, Mr. Bishop receives numerous referrals from family law attorneys around the country, as well as colleagues from other practice areas.
Transition to Mediation:
Mr. Bishop has retired from litigation (i.e., courtroom cases) and now brings his expertise and commitment to handling mediation cases with the hope of helping people settle their divorce and other family law cases out of court. Mr. Bishop also drafts and negotiates premarital agreements. Finally, Mr. Bishop has continued in his position as the President and Managing Partner of Bishop, Del Vecchio & Beeks. Although Mr. Bishop no longer litigates himself, he continues to work closely with the other attorneys and specialized support staff.
