• Limited resources. The spouse does not have enough property to meet their reasonable living needs.
• Insufficient income or job prospects. The spouse cannot earn enough money through work to support themselves.
• Caring for young or dependent children. The spouse is responsible for a child whose age or needs make it impractical to work outside the home.
• Sacrificed career or income for the marriage. The spouse helped the other partner advance their education, career, or earning potential by giving up their own job or income for the benefit of the marriage.
• Long marriage or age considerations. The spouse’s age or circumstances make it difficult to find work that would allow them to be self-sufficient.
